Research overview Our research is focused on friction stir forming (FSF). Based on the principles on friction stir welding, a novel method for forming alloys has been invented in Kokushikan University in Tokyo. Surface modification of metals like aluminum and titanium and development of new functional composite alloys by joining dissimilar materials using FSF, especially development of fiber reinforced metal (FRM) by FSF are some examples of our research topics. Studying "microstructures" and "mechanical properties" of alloys also "Superplasticity" studies are other main subjects in our laboratory.
